Description: A Christmas film in colour, with music by Burl Ives, featuring "A Traditional Christmas" from the Eaton's Once Upon a Christmas exhibit at Saskatoon, Sask's Western Development Museum 1910 Boomtown.
Eaton's Once Upon a Christmas was an annual festive display of fairy tales and holiday scenes rendered in early, simple animatronics. Created in 1946, the display was held at Eaton's Winnipeg store for four decades before being moved to the Saskatoon outlet. When Eaton's closed its doors, the display was donated to the Western Development Museum, where it once more delights children of all ages every year.
I chose to keep colour in this film, and use Burl Ives' music, as the tone and feel of this ridiculously charming exhibit reminded me so much of those classic Rankin-Bass stop-motion animated holiday specials.
